Hello loves! I thought I would share my top three supplements that have helped to cure my adult acne once and for all. I actually didn’t start getting severe acne until my third year of college. It was weird, I thought since I didn’t have any in high school that I was off the hook! Joke was on me! I developed severe and painful cystic acne around my chin and jawline, and lots of small whiteheads on my forehead.
Alarmed and confused I consulted a dermatologist and began several ineffective courses of creams, and hormone disrupting medications. Over the course of a year I saw some improvement, but definitely could not use my skin and “clear” in the same sentence.
I began exploring more natural options such as diet and supplementation. I knew that diet had an effect on skin and was already a relatively healthy eater. As I began researching more deeply I concluded that my hormones were unbalanced, and I was still leaving out important foods that promoted healing of my skin.
The main things I integrated into my diet that helped tremendously were:
Good Fats (Avacado, Walnuts, Olive Oil, Coconut Oil, Salmon, Butter)
There was a noticeable difference in my skins appearance and texture after around 30 days.
I still wanted to achieve that flawless glow, so I continued to study supplements and their potential benefits on skin.

Alpha Lipoic Acid’s anti-inflammatory effects help reduce visible redness and discolored areas, resulting in a more even skin tone. ALA can help shrink the appearance of pores and impart a healthy, radiant-looking glow to the skin by locking in your body’s natural moisture content.
Zinc Picolinate is a natural detoxifying agent, helping rid the skin of impurities that cause acne and oily skin. It also helps boots the immune system which can fight infections or prevent them from happening in the first place.
Dim-Plus is a substance that naturally occurs in coniferous vegetables. In supplement form it is extracted and acts as a mega dose of the good stuff from broccoli, without all of the gas and bloating. (Just sayin’) It’s mechanism of action works by detoxing your body of excess estrogen. Estrogen dominance can occur in anyone because of the high levels of estrogen we come into contact with through everyday pollutants. Symptoms of estrogen dominance include: heavy periods, weight gain, magnified PMS, cystic breasts, irregular periods, acne around jawline.
Fermented Cod Liver Oil + Butter Oil: Each of these by themselves are great, but when used in combination they are a miracle worker. They naturally hydrate the skin and joints of our body. These healthy fats also send a signal our oil secreting glands that we have enough, allowing our body to even out production. (Excess oil production is what causes clogged pores and acne) Having hydrated, happy skin equals no acne as well as great wrinkle prevention!
